Opened in 1966 as a dirt track, Caraway Speedway in Sophia, North Carolina paved its way to becoming one of the region's most competitive tracks when they put the pavement surface down in 1972. The .455 oval has been operated by the Hackett family for decades. Caraway has been a mainstay in the Southern Modified scene and with the SMART Modified Tour. Its efforts to keep Modified racing alive have made the track a respected stop on the Tour.
The 2026 Revolutionary 99 will be the 82nd SMART Modified Tour race at Caraway. Junior Miller is the all-time most winning driver at Caraway in SMART history with 23 wins. The Revolutionary 99 is one of two stops on the SMART Tour at Caraway.

The SMART Modified Tour created a new Independence Day Weekend tradition in holding the Revolutionary 99 during its resurgence in 2021.
With the July 4th race, the Tour honors the spirit of Independence, a concept that our great nation was founded on. The race has seen a few different ways of celebrating our nation's birthday from musket fires, to American flags and fireworks.
Since the modern era of SMART, the Tour has competed at Caraway on July 4th weekend five times.
