SMART MODIFIED TOUR PLAYOFF RACE 2 of 3
CARSON LOFTIN SCORES HIS FIRST WIN OF THE SEASON. READ THE STORY

Tri-County Speedway is a .4 mile speedway located in Hudson, North Carolina. The quaint setting for speed has been hosting races since 1985. At first, TriCo was a dirt track hosting some of the best of the best in Dirt Late Model Racing. In 1988 it became a paved oval and a main-stay in the Carolina Late Model racing scene. In 1990 it also hosted a relatively new racing series, the SMART Modified Tour.
Tri-County is one of North Carolina's most competitive race tracks and beautiful facilities. From a new grandstand in 2025, yummy concessions, to trackside parking, the Speedway has a lot to offer racing fans.
Since the 90's the SMART Tour has competed at Tri-County 16-times.

The SMART Modified Tour races at TriCo in 2025 in honor of Gary Freeman, the owner of Hoosier Asphalt Oval South.
Gary was a big part of Hoosier Tire's Short Track Racing efforts and an integral member of the racing community. His contributions to the sport could be felt in many different areas of the southeast and in particular within the Modified racing scene.
Gary loved Modifieds and the SMART Modified Tour. You would often see Gary chomping on his trademark cigar behind the Hoosier Truck. He was always approachable and full of wisdom and amazing stories and willing to share his passion for racing with all.
Modified racing is in a better place because of Gary Freeman.
