  Florence Motor Speedway (FMS) in Timmonsville, SC, is a historic 4/10-mile asphalt oval known as the "Diamond of the Southeast," famous for its unique progressive banking and lack of an outside wall in both corners, offering challenging, side-by-side racing for various stock car classes and major events. Each year it hosts the SMART Modified Tour and other big races like the CARS Tour and the South Carolina 400.  The Zacharias family ows and operates the facility, keeping the flame lit for asphalt stock car racing in the Pee Dee region of South Carolina.

2026 is the eighth race at Florence for the modern era of the SMART Modified Tour.  It is the second running honoring Zach Brewer.

The namesake of the Florence Motor Speedway opener.

In 2024, the racing community lost Zach Brewer suddenly at 44 years-old.  The Arcadia, NC driver was a multi-time winner in Modified racing in a variety of series’. Brewer was also a three-time winner in NASCAR’s Goody’s Dash Series and a winner in the NASCAR Modified division at Bowman Gray Stadium in Winston-Salem, NC. In 13-career starts with the SMART Modified Tour, his best finish was fifth in the Warrior 100 at Caraway Speedway in 2023.

“It’s great to honor Zach Brewer, who meant a lot to the racing community, as well as the SMART Modified Tour,” said Chris Williams, Series Director for SMART.  “He was a fiery competitor. He wasn’t shy for letting you know just how competitive his nature was.  This weekend we race for his family, as well as those moments that he created for so many people.”

Zach Brewer’s beloved wife, Kimberly, and their daughter, Avery, as well as various family members and friends will be in attendance.
